In this Halloween/Day of the Dead episode, Jarod "Howard" initiates a Pretend as a professor of gross anatomy at Colonial College Medical School in order to expose Dr. Christopher Fein, who killed med student Enrique Ramos a year ago.

Dr. Fein was secretly using homeless people to test the development of his new cardiac resuscitation drug. When one of his subjects died, Dr. Fein attempted to conceal it by having his brother, Sheldon Fein, cremate the body at his mortuary. Enrique worked at the mortuary and recognized the body of Broad Street Bill, a homeless man that Dr. Fein had enlisted Enrique's aid to get as a test subject. When Jarod unearths the horrible truth, he finds that Dr. Fein assured Enrique's silence about what he saw by burying him alive.

Jarod tricks Dr. Fein into meeting him at the cemetery by making him believe that an exhumation order has been issued for the grave in which he buried Enrique, then makes Dr. Fein believe that he is going to suffer the same agonizing fate that Enrique Ramos suffered, before turning him over to the police.

While attempting to discover what really happened to Enrique Ramos, Jarod suffers continued nightmares and flashbacks relating to a bizarre and terrifying experiment conducted on him at the Centre. The DSA's for the last three weeks in October of the year before he escaped from The Centre are missing from Jarod's collection, leaving him without a way to find out if any of the events he keeps reliving actually happened.

Sydney has Broots sneak into Mr. Raines' office to search for Jarod's missing DSA's. Broots comes through when he finds a DSA of a secret experiment conducted on Jarod, while Sydney was away from The Centre. Although it doesn't make the purpose of the experiment clear, the DSA shows that Mr. Raines and Mr. Lyle medically flatlined Jarod and then resuscitated him. At the same time that Sydney is viewing the horrifying DSA, events that unfold in Dr. Fein's secret lab jog Jarod's faded memory of the experiment into perfect focus, and he remembers all of it.

The last time that Miss Parker saw her father, two sweepers were escorting him to a meeting with someone named Mr. Lyle. Mr. Parker never returned from that meeting, and now Mr. Lyle has taken over his office. Adding to Miss Parker's anxiety over the whereabouts of her father is the realization that Lyle and a new "cleaner", Brigitte, were one step ahead of Miss Parker and her team in bringing back the clues from Jarod's last lair. Desperate for answers, Miss Parker tortures a badly burned Mr. Raines, trying to find out where her father has gone and who Mr. Lyle is. All Raines will tell her is that Mr. Lyle is the "boogey man."

Jarod discovers Halloween and goes trick or treating as "the scariest creature" he knows: Mr. Raines.
