Mr. Lyle is redecorating Mr. Parker's office with his own, African themed furniture and leaves Miss Parker out of the loop when Jarod "liberates" 15 million dollars of The Centre's money and donates it to charity.
In Middletown, Delaware, Jarod "borrows" the identity of a one-armed safecracker, R. H. Cross, in order to help Scotty Boyd put the seven years he spent in prison behind him and live an honest life, raising his son, Shawn.
When Jarod overhears Nick Avani and his henchman, Dewey, coercing Scotty Boyd into helping them pull off a job, Jarod uses a fat packet of money to do some convincing of his own. Jarod intercepts R. H. Cross at the train station and pays him to rob one of The Centre's offices in Indianapolis, leaving a Wheel-lo behind to let Mr. Lyle know that he's going nowhere, fast. Meanwhile, Jarod assumes R. H.'s identity.
Detective Harold Evans of the Middletown Police Department is taking pictures of Jarod and Scotty as they leave the building in which they are working out the details of Avani's heist. Since he can find no record of Jarod, he puts his picture up on the National Police Net. At The Centre, Intella-Research 5 pulls the picture, giving Miss Parker the opportunity to have Broots dig up something that would ruin Detective Evans career - which she uses to blackmail the man into giving her all the information that he has regarding Jarod's whereabouts.
To make certain that Boyd goes along with his plan to rob the Federal Diamond Depository in Wilmington, Avani has Dewey kidnap Shawn, Scotty's son. Jarod sees Miss Parker, Sydney and Broots in one of the surveillance photos that Avani takes of the depository and realizes that they plan to ambush him at the depository. When Jarod traps Nick Avani in the vault, in order to force him to call Dewey and free Shawn, he also traps Mr. Lyle, Miss Parker, Sydney, Broots and Brigitte in the security room of the depository, which Mr. Lyle used as the team's headquarters.
After leaving Nick Avani trapped for the police to find, Jarod gives Scotty and Shawn a packet of money, so that they can leave town and start a new life.
Throughout the impromptu Pretend, Jarod watches the loving interaction between Scotty and Shawn and is reminded of a particular year at The Centre when, as a young boy, he saw Miss Parker giving her father a bronze bunny paperweight for Father's Day. After Sydney explained why Miss Parker was giving Mr. Parker the gift, the young Jarod made a Father's Day card for Sydney. Sydney rebuffed Jarod's attempt at intimacy and, in front of Jarod, threw the card in his wastebasket.
Before Jarod moves on to his next location, he calls Sydney to ask him if he ever wondered what it would be like to be Jarod's father. Sydney tells Jarod that being his father was never an option and therefore he never even allowed himself to entertain the thought. Obviously disappointed, Jarod thanks Sydney for his honesty and walks away, alone. At The Centre, Sydney takes a metal box out of one of his desk drawers and pulls out the Father's Day card that Jarod thought he had thrown away.
