In Beverly Hills, California, Dr. Jarod "Clay" is the latest plastic surgeon to join the staff at Surgicare Cosmetic Surgery Clinic. Jarod's purpose is to find out how a clinic with a client list that is full of celebrities was unable to help Tricia Holmes, a 17-year-old pro bono patient whose face was disfigured in a car accident.

Jarod learns from Dr. Wade Eubanks that the clinic's chief of surgery, Dr. Christine Brant, has the surgeons work on County pro bono cases once a week. Since the work is gratis, there are no follow-up appointments for those patients. Eubanks also tells Jarod that operations on the rich and famous are only performed at night, usually by Dr. Brant.

At Tricia's home, Jarod learns from her grandma Tess that because of her face, Tricia won't leave the house. If Tricia doesn't finish school, she will forfeit the full music scholarship that she received, because of her beautiful voice. Jarod examines Tricia's face and realizes that one of her facial nerves has been severed. The damage cannot be repaired. Checking her pre and post operation X-rays, Jarod sees that the nerve was intact when Tricia arrived at the clinic, but was severed when she left.

Jarod tricks Eubanks into seeing Tricia at her home and confronts him about severing the nerve and leaving Tricia permanently disfigured. Eubanks remembers Tricia and swears to Jarod that he did not damage the facial nerve.

Checking the records room at the clinic, Jarod finds that Dr. Brant performed a chin implant on movie star, Monique Gibbons, on the same night that Eubanks did Tricia's surgery. Afterwards, Jarod goes to Surgicare's Santa Barbara office. There he meets Brad Hoffner, a former nurse at the Beverly Hills clinic who was promoted to director of the Santa Barbara office by Dr. Brant. Hoffner admits that his promotion was Dr. Brant's way of "buying" his silence, because he saw the doctor harvest a piece of bone from Tricia's face when the grafts needed for the surgery on Gibbons were damaged. In her haste to get the job done before anyone found out, Dr. Brant severed Tricia's facial nerve. Hoffner has been sending Tricia anonymous, music related, gifts ever since.

Jarod secretly anesthetizes Dr. Brant and fakes an auto accident. Brant awakens in the Surgicare operating room to hear Jarod telling her that there is a super model in the next room who needs massive skin grafts and that Brant is the perfect donor. Using more anesthesia and Clay Dough, Jarod tricks Dr. Brant into believing that she has been disfigured. Dr. Brant is arrested and Jarod convinces Tricia to leave her house and face the world.

At The Centre, Broots thinks that someone has been watching him. In an attempt to sow distrust, Brigitte tells Broots that she can help him with his "problem" and insinuates that Sydney and Miss Parker are behind it all. That night Broots finds an envelope on his front porch, which is filled with photographs of him and his daughter at various locations, confirming his suspicions that someone is spying on him. Moments later, Brigitte fires a shot at Broots and attempts to lay the blame on Miss Parker. Angelo lets Broots know that it was really Brigitte who fired at him. Confronted by Miss Parker, Brigitte cops to it, but says she hasn't been taking the pictures. Unknown to anyone at The Centre except Angelo, Kyle is the one who has been taking the photos.
