Résumé VO
The information that Jarod finds when he opens the envelope from Mr. Fenigor's safety deposit box at the Dover Town Bank leads Jarod "Spock" to the NuGenesis Fertility Clinic, in Atlanta, Georgia.

While Jarod talks to Dr. Nicholas Haring, the head of the clinic, and to Dr. DeWitt -- with whom he will be working, a custodian pays close attention to the conversation. Blood samples from Jarod's first patients, Mr. and Mrs. Brewster, are given to the lab technician, Jeremy. Dr. Boris DeWitt used to be Nicholas Haring's partner, but he passed away and Haring now runs NuGenesis by himself. The Dr. DeWitt with whom Jarod will be working is Boris DeWitt's daughter.

As Jarod tries to find an opportunity to access the computer system at NuGenesis so that he can track the file number that was listed on the back of a business card that he found in Fenigor's envelope, Jarod sees several things taking place that cause him to flash back to similar experiences in his childhood. Jarod begins to suspect that he's been at NuGenesis before.

In his office, Jarod receives a FAX from Angelo -- a picture of a third grade class from a local elementary school, which came from Raines' office. On the bottom of the picture, Angelo has written one word -- "Prodigy." Jarod says, "They're doing it again. They're going to take another child." A phone call to Sydney confirms that recent events at The Centre indicate that "the Pretender program" may indeed be starting up again. When Jarod leaves his office, the custodian goes in and looks through Jarod's papers.

As Jarod starts to input the number from the back of the card into the NuGenesis computer system, the custodian stops him, telling Jarod that if he's looking for information, he's going about it the wrong way and he's going to get caught. Jarod asks him why he should trust him. The custodian pulls the picture of Jarod's mother out of his pocket and says, "because your mother did."

The custodian tells Jarod that his parents were at NuGenesis for over six months, trying to get pregnant. He says there was a lot of "weird stuff" going on down Corridor 7 back then -- testing of children. He told Dr. Boris about it and Dr. Boris put an end to it. Dr. Boris died, and a few months ago the weird stuff started happening again -- down Corridor 7.

In the basement, Jarod and the custodian find a locked safe. Mr. Fenigor's key opens it. Inside, there is a reel of film, which has the same number on it that is on the back of the NuGenesis card, and the red files -- one of which also matches the number on the card. Jarod's folder is a medical file with no personal information at all. The reel of tape only shows a young Jarod solving a problem, using the same blocks that he saw in one of the rooms upstairs. Jarod also learns that Charles and Margaret may not be his biological parents -- that he might have been adopted.

The custodian tells Jarod that the old Oakview Lodge, near Stone Mountain, is where his parents used to stay while they were at NuGenesis and Jarod goes there, hoping to find more information.

The owner of the lodge, Louis, remembers Jarod's parents. Jarod's father, who Louis used to call "Major Charles" because of his air force uniform, once saved Louis' life, when he fell through the ice into the lake. Louis also tells Jarod that he doesn't look like either of his parents. Jarod ends up staying in the same cottage in which his parents stayed.

The next day, Jarod "Kotter" is the substitute teacher for Avalon Elementary School's third grade class, where he learns about "The Pledge of Allegiance." He looks at the emergency numbers for the children and sees that there are three that have Dr. Nicholas Haring at NuGenesis listed as their doctor: Davy Simpkins, Ari Thompson and Albert Williams. Jarod gives the three children the blocks from NuGenesis and asks them to solve the problem that he was given as a child. Jarod is momentarily distracted, and when he comes back, the problem is solved. When Jarod asks which child solved it, they each point to the other, laugh and run off to do other things.

Unexpectedly, Angelo arrives at Jarod's cottage. He tells Jarod, "I got here as quick as I could." At the appointed time, Angelo injects himself with a syringe. As he dabs up a bit of blood from the puncture wound the needle left, Jarod flashes back to the fact that someone took his blood as a child -- then he saw them testing another child at NuGenesis. The thought gels and Jarod says, "We're all special -- because of what's in our blood."

From the custodian, Jarod gets NuGenesis blood samples for each of the three children. The next day, when Mr. and Mrs. Brewster find out the disappointing news that they are not pregnant, Jarod tells Dr. Haring that he has found three candidates for egg donors. Dr. Haring has Jarod give the blood samples to Jeremy for immediate analysis.

Dr. DeWitt tells Jarod that none of the samples were good donors for Mrs. Brewster, but one of them is a perfect match for a project that she is heading up. The vial of blood for which Dr. DeWitt wants the contact information belongs to Davy Simpkins.

Jarod and Angelo go to the address that is listed for Davy Simpkins and find that Mr. and Mrs. Watanabe were only Davy's foster parents and that Child Placement Services just picked him up because they found him a permanent home. She says that Davy called the man who picked him up "the snowman" because of his white hair. Jarod recognizes the description -- Raines' cleaner, Gar. Jarod and Angelo rush to the county airstrip, to try to catch Gar before he can leave with Davy. But they are too late and arrive just in time to see the plane flying away.

At The Centre, Miss Parker, Sydney, Broots and Angelo all see that someone is having SL-27 repaired and made ready for use. Sydney begins a new treatment for Angelo, devised by Jarod, which should regenerate the neuro-pathways that Raines destroyed, bringing Timmy back. The treatment works even better than expected and Angelo/Timmy packs up the remaining medication and escapes The Centre. Miss Parker finds out that Catherine Parker gave birth to twins and there was a boy born only minutes after Miss Parker was. The official records say that Miss Parker's twin brother was stillborn, but Broots finds DSA's in Mr. Raines' personal files that show the boy was alive and was taken to NuGenesis.
